Choon Hui Cafe @ Ban Hock Road

Our first taste of kolo mee and Sarawak laksa in Kuching was at this famous Choon Hui Cafe situated right next to Grand Continental hotel. This place was really packed in the morning as tourists and locals all flocked there for their fix of local breakfast.

The modest coffee shop has three stalls of food selection: The kolo mee, the Sarawak laksa and popiah. Pictured above is the Sarawak laksa, consisting of coarse vermicelli in thick, spicy and creamy gravy topped with prawns, chicken and fried egg slices.

The popiah or spring rolls, deserves a special mention. The fillings are full of crunchy to the bite vegetables and loads of chunky peanuts.

A cuppa tea to wash everything down.

Right next after breakfast: To Sarawak Cultural Village at Santubong!
